Your smile is the first thing that people notice about you. Whereas other non-verbal communications such as touch and gestures differ between countries
and cultures, a smile is universal, emanates confidence and invites trust and respect from others.
Many people, however, avoid smiling due to a lack of confidence in their smile and can project an unfriendly, even grumpy demeanour that can be misleading and detrimental to lifestyle or career. Whether it is missing or broken teeth, discoloured or stained teeth or simply undesirable spaces and gaps, the good news is that it can be fixed!
A comprehensive consultation with Dr Ho is the first step to communicate your concerns and expectations, see what your options are and get a detailed treatment plan with the costs involved so you can make an informed decision. Dr Ho has over twenty years of experience in complex aesthetic and implant rehabilitations and can help you, whether it is a single crown, bridge or full mouth rehabilitation.
CARE Dentistry offers the following reconstructive and cosmetic procedures:
A veneer is a thin casing of either porcelain or composite resin that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth to improve its appearance. It can be used to eliminate the problem of stained or dark teeth, close spaces between teeth or even reshape a tooth.
Porcelain veneers are the superior choice as they are longer lasting and have a more natural tooth enamel appearance due to their semi-translucent properties. They are less prone to staining or chipping and are made in our in-house laboratory by skilled technicians who cater to your individual needs. Because they are so natural looking, porcelain veneers are the best choice when several teeth are being restored. For areas of more wear, porcelain veneers are also preferable as they are more durable.
Composite resin veneers are the same material as white fillings and are bonded directly to the tooth by the dentist in just one visit, unlike porcelain veneers which are made in the laboratory by our technicians. Hence these are quicker and cheaper than porcelain veneers. Although they are more susceptible to staining, they are fairly simple and quick to restore and recommended for just one or two teeth where less stress on the bite is placed. They also require no preparation for your tooth, unlike porcelain, and can be bonded directly without the need for removing any enamel.
A crown, or ‘cap’ as some people refer to it, is used to fully cover a tooth that is fractured, broken or vulnerable and protect it from further damage. A crown is commonly recommended by a dentist after root canal treatment when the tooth has been weakened but can also be recommended when a large filling has broken and there is not enough natural tooth remaining to bond filling material to.
A bridge is an option for when there are one or more missing teeth and is attached to crowns on adjacent teeth to span the gap.
To prepare a tooth for a crown, the dentist must remove some of the damaged tooth to allow a crown to fit over it. Impressions can then be taken of your teeth to ensure the correct fit. At CARE Dentistry we offer the latest in technology, 3D digital imaging and design, to design your crown. Most patients prefer this to impressions made from a mould which can feel uncomfortable in the mouth. Great care will be taken to ensure the shade (colour) of your crown matches your existing teeth for a natural appearance.
Invisalign invisible braces are a great alternative to traditional braces that are unsightly and unremovable. Invisalign are instead a series of custom made clear plastic orthodontic aligners that are designed to either straighten teeth or close gaps. There are several advantages over traditional braces, the main one being, of course, that they are virtually invisible and don’t impact on your lifestyle. They are easily removable so you can remove them to eat, therefore not restricting the foods that you consume, and if you have a special event, you can choose to not wear them for a short while. They are suitable for teens and adults alike. Adults, especially, love them for these characteristics!
An initial consultation is required and impressions/scans will be taken of your teeth. 3D imaging will then be able to give you a good indicator of what your final result will be. Instead of visiting your orthodontist every 3-4 weeks with traditional braces, you will be visiting your dentist every 6-8 weeks for the next sets of custom made aligners to be issued to you and, generally, you will wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks. The number of aligners issued differs varying on the complexity of each individual case.
Do you have dull, yellow teeth or teeth stained from tea and coffee or smoking? At CARE Dentistry we offer both in chair and take-home teeth whitening. Both methods offer stunning results on your natural teeth. In Chair Whitening offers quicker results and you will also take home custom made trays and whitening gel as part of this package.
For the take home whitening, impressions will be taken of your teeth to make the custom made trays and these will be issued to you when they have been fabricated by our in-house laboratory, together with whitening gel. You can choose whether you want to wear your trays as you sleep or for a shorter time during the day, depending on the strength of the gel. Either way will achieve the same results. Don’t let dull teeth give you a dull smile!
